How to create a variation using an anchor ASIN – Listing Support

This SOP will guide you when you need to create a variation using an Anchor ASIN.

This SOP is aimed to be used in the following scenarios:

BM requests to create a variation using the parent that already exists on the Detail Page.
The BM only has one ASIN to add to a variation that exists in the detail page

Anchor ASIN: Parent ASIN used in order to move a variation momentarily, until the issue has been fixed.

This tasks needs to be done when a variation issue is present and a pivot ASIN is necessary.

Check if each ASINs in the existing variation shown in the wizard tool is present in the Seller’s inventory.

Yes: Continue to the next step
No: ask the BM for approval to create one of those listings with no quantity just to use as an anchor (Once the Parent is created we can remove the anchored child, and confirm with the BM)

Download the Flat File for the category in the ASIN is listed.
Use one of the ASINs found in the variation wizard as an anchor to link the items under the same parent.
To create the relationship follow the SOP How to create a variation to continue with the process.
If you cannot add the ASIN to the variation due to an error or the child is simply not showing up, create a case to SPS as requested on the How to create a case SOP.
In case include the Batch ID; mention that we are brand registered (if applicable) and tried to add the child ASIN into the variation manually.

Note: Once the relationship has been created, remove the created child with no inventory.
